SEQUOYAH MIDDLE SCHOOL

SMS opened in 1964 and is built on grounds that were a meeting place for the Sequoyah tribe of the Cherokee Nation. Sequoyah High School served the Doraville and Chamblee communities for 25 years, and then in 1989 became a junior high to meet the needs of a changing enrollment. In 1996, Sequoyah became a middle school housing grades 6-8. Currently, the student enrollment represents 28 different countries and serves a multicultural population.
