Reading
Our students are curious, knowledge-sharing, educated decision-makers that continually explore the power of using information ethically.  We promote reading across the curriculum. Students may find a plethora of reading materials in the Launchpad.  Students can check out e-books and audiobooks in Sora for Overdrive.  Sora has expanded in partnership with the public library to give patrons access to digital books in both collections with their login credentials through CLEVER/Launchpad. Students may also access digital materials using Destiny our library catalog, GALILEO, and other sources. Our students use their LEXILE reading levels to select quality books of interest.  Their reading level range is reported with a low number (showing the reading level at which students read with ease) and a high number (showing the reading level at which students may need assistance).

Special Donations
Please join me in extending our sincerest gratitude to Mr. Anthony, Ms. Feacher, and the Sequoyah Middle School Parent Teacher Organization (S.M.S. P.T.O.), for their generous donation of Scholastic books.  These books range in genre from comedy to dystopian.  We have new Dog Man and Amulet graphic novels.  We also have the Goosebumps Ultimate Slappy Boxed Set, The Hunger Games Boxed Set, The Baby-Sitters Club collection, the Harry Potter Boxed Set, and creepy titles like La Llorona and Bloody Mary. We call this our D.E.A.R. Book Collection 2020-2021.  These books will reignite your love of reading.  When you are invited back to the Library Media Center for safe social distanced check-out we know that these books will provide hours of fun and exciting reading.

Follett School Solutions, Inc. has partnered with the Hachette Book Group to present us with a complimentary collection of books. We are excited to add these titles to our growing collection of books that focus on anti-racism, empathy, and social justice.  We will call this special collection the B.L.M. Collection.
Technology & Digital Resources
Students have access to various technology tools housed in the media center.  Printing student-created products are free of charge. Students are encouraged to use Galileo or databases linked through the Launchpad or Destiny to locate credible resources. See the Teacher-Librarian for login credentials.
